5 months

This is the longest I have ever spent with an existing UFO. My normal plan of action is to frog anything that doesn't hold my attention long enough to get finished. But it was something I just couldn't do to these socks, every time I felt like I should frog I ended up knitting a few rows instead. I kept falling in love with the yarn all over again. I received the yarn in December during our knit night's yearly Festivus gift exchange and I think this is the attraction to the yarn, it reminds me of my dear knitting friends, those that still attend knit night and those that have moved away.
That is why I couldn't frog and that is why I love them so much. They are cheerful, they are warm and they fit like...socks!
Just like my knitting friends, well except that my knitting friends aren't sock shaped.
It may have taken me 5 months to finish this pair, but it also took me 3 years this past April to cultivate the wonderful friendships I have with my knitting homies.
Be safe, Be good.

helloooo....

Wow, been a while eh? Sorry for the long silence, but here here I am again. So much has happened in the last what, 11 months, or so. Here's a list 1. I've been at this job now for a year now. It's been hell, but I made it. 2. I'm still knitting. Some days more than others, but still I knit. See? 3. Superman and our Gurlies are still the center of my world (you'd think I'd list this first then wouldn't you)...I'm random that way. 4. I'm quite ill. but it's all my fault so it's no so tragic. I've made myself so sick, that I'm disgusted and disappointed in myself. I'm currently undergoing treatment for what I've done. In order to make this as undramatic as possible I'll tell you what I did... Ready? I'm anemic. Yep, that's it. Aren't you glad I didn't wait until my next post to tell you. Yeah me too. I'm kind that way, me... Turns out I don't have the common sense nature gave a ladybug. I've always had issues with keeping up my iron and my hemoglobin, but this time you'd think I'd done it on purpose. In the course of about 4 months, I'm at the same point I was after giving birth to Scratchy. Now THAT takes some serious talent, don't you think? Don't worry fair reader, I mean to fix this. My gurlies need me and not being here for them would be my biggest failure in life. Be safe, Be good.

Of course this is the best shot!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! Here is me with the 3 biggest treasures I could ever own (that's right OWN). I think I've gone on and on in this blog about how much I adore these three beutiful girls. So I'll just say this, if it weren't for them I wouldn't be half as funny or driven. They are my loves and my life. We took about 7 shots and this is the best one, I would post the rest but it's almost midnight and honestly I'm too tired. Mother's day is tiring work around here and I have to go to work in 6 hours. *yawwwn* Have a great week everyone. Be safe, be good.

Spring Break 2010

This is the most important aspect, I SURVIVED! And not once did I feel like running away or putting my kids in baskets with a $50 and a sign that says "finders keepers". The weather was glorious most of the week and the people I was around were some of my favorite people in the world. And so, here's a brief peek into Spring Break 2010. My Steve (the flasher) and his room mate on the roof of his house. It was my niece's second birthday party and they were in charge of the pinata wrangling.

This is a goat. Alex (nephew extraordinaire) and Lily were very amused by him. Ms. Scratchy and Jess not so much. They found him stinky.

At another park later that same day during an impromptu ice cream time, Jess ignored me and so did Alex. This is Ms. Scratchy, she is waking me up from a nap with this gorgeous smile. I forgot what she was saying, but the smile unforgettable.

My niece and Scratchy on one last trip to the park late in the afternoon. I love this picture so much that it's my screen saver on my cell phone. Scratchy is deliriously cute on her own, but the combination of these two is deadly.
Um, this is what happens when you're knitting a heel on a sock and you forget to turn the burner COMPLETELY off, instead of to low. Oops
On a whim and under some severe bullying from my two eldest daughters I bought a dress for the first time in years. I must say that I look really good in it too.

All picuture were taken with my cell phone because I can no longer be bothered to carry around a digital camera and a phone. My lazy is HUGE, I regret nothing though.

Be safe. Be good

Reboot.

I have been knitting now for 2 years and 10 months. I began knitting back in June of 2007 on a whim. I was pregnant and I wanted to knit something for my third child, Ms. Scratchy. I remember the exact day because it was my little brother's birthday and the day I received my first (and only) traffic tickets. I will tell you the story at a later date, today is not the day. But trust me, it's a great one and completely worth the wait. The reason I'm thinking back on this now is because starting in November this past year I began going through a very difficult time emotionally and now finally after about three months of lots of thinking and resettling I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm reflecting on this now because I have been reading The Yarn Harlot's blog, I always go back to it when ever I need to reconnect to the time when knitting was almost all entirely new and complicated and all I could see were things to aspire to. I loved that time and now, now that my thoughts are starting to resettle, it feels like a great time to look back and start over. Perhaps a little worse for wear but as always a bit wiser. *Sorry this is so cryptic, but I had to get it out. Be safe. Be Good.
