Lesson learned.

I had decided that given the fact that I knit so much and have so few handknits to wear, it was high time I dedicated a huge chunk of knitting time to myself. But as usual the universe like to show me in extreme detail that I have enough to be getting on with and should not dedicate an entire MONTH of knitting to myself.
The universe takes extreme pleasure in illustrating this by lulling me into a deep warm sense of security and then WHAM, kicking me out faster than I can say "Month of ME".
See, for some reason I sometimes ignore my calendar. I just develop a blindness for time. I can see that the date changes but it doesn't register with me. Just last Saturday I was knitting away on one of the projects I had planned for me when suddenly it hit me that there is a HUGE knitting deadline that I was going to miss if I didn't get a move on.
About 3 weeks ago I had planned for this project and last Saturday (as I knit on my vest, which is alot bigger than this, this was taken a while back)
I made a mental note to cast on for this BIG project as soon as I cast off the vest, cause I only had 3 weeks to finish.
Did you catch that? I didn't have 3 weeks, at most I had (on Saturday) 5 days.
Not only that but there is a Carnival to help with, there is a child's play to be attended to, there was a field trip to chaperon and laundry, and cooking, and a project to help out with, and 400miles of knitting, and did I mention Superman is on vacation and that he slows me down, because I can't boss him around like I do the gurlies when I am stressed!
I've been running on 3-4 hours of sleep a night since Saturday, drinking coffee in amount considered obscene and praying that I can whack it all together by Friday, when hopefully the Universe will realise that I am deeply regretful of my greediness and will ease up to allow me a wee break. I swear I'll never do it again.
In the meantime, I must procure more coffee.
Have a great day!

Finished.

A few weeks ago, (right after my birthday) I finished my never ending Leaning Ladders Scarf. And all I can say is that it was worth all the cursing and stomping. My scarf is a thing of beuty. Here we see it blocking. I apologize for the bad lighting but it was the middle of the night and I was blocking it on my ironing board in the hallway that leads to the girlies' bathroom. Although the color is way off in this shot the pattern is very clear.
Please if you see a mistake, keep it to yourself. Don't tell me, it will kill me.
The Malabrigo is wonderfully drapey. I'm glad I didn't make socks with it, otherwise I'd never take the off. They would be worn out by now, I would have worn them everyday, and this would be a very sad post. Especially because even though they have plenty more Malabrigo at the LYS and in this color even, they do not have this dyelot. Now I'm not going to tell you that the ones they have are not pretty, but this one was gorgeous. It has shine and depth and is dark and iridescent. It mystifying really. Given that this was a Chirstmas present just adds to the beauty of it. Some of the dye came out during the wash though, but it did not affect the finished project. The color in this picture is not accurate either, at least not on my screen. But do you see the wonderful stitch definition, even on something so simple the stitches just seem to pop. It's also huge, it came out at just over 8 feet long! It grew about 2 feet with the wash and block. All in all I give this project 5 stars a big kiss and a hug. I forgive it all its sins during its knitting time and ask it to forgive mine. I promise to love it forever and ever, in sickness and in health as long as stay pretty and keeps it's shape. Have a great day!

Whoosh!

Anybody know where the rest of March went?
Not me, that's for sure!
But somewhere along the way this happened:
She did this herself folks. Her sisters were dying of laughter, as was I.
That mother of the year ward will be mine for sure this year!
April is here and with it came my birthday. I had a most excellent day too.
My mom took me out to lunch where there was an incident between me a delivery truck and a pole. Don't ask it was quite inelegant and I have the bruise to prove it.
Later that afternoon Superman and the girls provided me with cake.
It was great!
This is definitely worth the mess Superman had to clean up. Apparently Scratchy enjoys cake and ice cream. But not much.
That night I went to Knit Night and enjoyed an evening surrounded by some mighty fine knitters and cupcakes provided my buddy Jenny (hi Jenny!). It was wonderful. I had such a great birthday, I couldn't have asked for more. Then this past Saturday we had big load of tragedy dumped on us and I spent the day choking back tears and reconnecting with family I had lost touch with. Odd how death brings people closer together, sad as hell too. I do not approve.
On Sunday I went over to see my mom and nearly had the bejungis scared outta me. As soon as I walked in the door and there were short people yelling Surprise! and blowing horns and shouting. I may or may not have suffered a miocardical infarction, my old ticker can't take that kind of stuff anymore. Ahem.
The culprit was this beautiful creature. My widdle thisister Meli (she's the un-blurry one) seen here on her own birthday.
I was provided with baked goods yet again, this time Tres Leches cake yum!. Apparently I turned 8 this year. I'm down with that.

All on all I had a great birthday. I'd like to take the time to thank everyone who helped me have a most excellent day. I am a truly blessed knitter. I win!

Have agreat day kids!
