Spoiled Super Extra Funky Rotten!

Interwebs, I have something to show ya!
Behold and be jealous!!! Alot!

Yesterday as I was making up the yarncakes for my first ever sweater, there was a loud knock on my door, needless to say it scared the bejungus outa me. As I looked through the peephole I yelled, "identify yourself !" Dude was all "UPS ma'am!" I was like "Oh my, my mail order maid is here, yay!" But all he had was this big as a shoebox.... well...box. The address label read, "Knituitist the faboulous, (hell yeah!) I knew instantly what it was. So naturally I tore it off his hands and slammed the door then proceeded to immediately tear the box apart. Then there was another knock at the door, (blushing) apparently in my excitement I completely disregarded UPS guy's request for my autograph! (UPS guy, I'm sorry but I really wanted you to give me that package....wait no...I wanted my package from you....nope....ugh dude you get it!) I signed for it then I closed the door again and continued to tear through it. Inside I found this:

It contains

1 awesome gorgeous delicious hank of Socks that Rock! (I want to eat it!)

8 beautiful green stitch markers (on the bag)

1 super cool row counter

3 Teddys for my behbehs

1 chocolate smelling pencil

a shacago(Chicago) snow globe

a Knitter's book of finishing techniques, by Nancie M. Wiseman (swoon)

and the piece de resistance:

1 gawgeous handmade bag.

The most beautifulest purse I have evah seen yall! It is lined with a beautiful green fabric, even the handle is lined. There is also a hand made purse inside that is made of the same lining fabric. I hate to say it yall (given that I have coveted the yarn for a long time), but this is my favorite thing in the box!! I hearts it with ever single cell in my heart. I mean look at it, that there is handmade yall! Do any of you non-knitters know what that means? That there is no purse, it is a work of love. It is the gift of time, captured in a beautiful object. Not just any kind of time either, spare time, the most precious and rare kind. I, being a mother, hold spare time in the highest regard simply because of its rarity. This beautiful bag was made during the precious spare moments that this very busy knitter could have spent getting a manni-peddi or taking a nap or a bubble bath, instead she chose to sit and knit me something that would make me feel like the most cared about person in all of Knitterdom. For this, and this alone I will cherish this bag for the rest of my hectic life. I love it lots and lots.

Christy, (aka Cverity)

Thank you evah soo much, I luv it all! You have spoiled me spectacularly rotten. You know for someone who spent the entire swap torturing me, I gotta say that you did a bangup job gurl!

You Rok! Rok I tell ya!

I leave you with pixies of me modellin the yarn, the photographer was TigerLily, she is a 4 yr old prodigy.
This is mah favurit shot!

Favurits

I haz themz.
The other day I was in my daughters room doing crafts with them and chit chattin' about our favorite things. My oldest, Jess asked me what my favorite color was and I told her it was green. I asked her what her favorite color was and she said , yellow. Then they asked what daddy's favorite color was so I told them blue. TigerLily went on to proclaim that today her favorite color was orange, it was at this moment that WW4 began (WW3 was about PBJ vs Ham and cheese) Jess told Lily that you have to pick one color forever!
You see TigerLily never has and never will bow down to the rules set upon her by silly 1st graders (or anyone else for that matter)no, Lily my superspicy spicy baby doesn't just march by the beat of her own drummer, no, girly doesn't even use a drum!
That child is the epitome of different.

While my dear supersweet Jess is the most noble caring child. She and Lily are as much alike as sweet tweeting birds and a freaking bulldozer. Jess likes all things calm, gentle and girlie, Lily likes all those things but loud, rough and crazy, it really all depends on her mood. Just yesterday she declared her desire to be a butterfly for Halloween, and this morning at breakfast she up and decided that she would rather be a dinosaur with a crown. That girl has style. There are some days when I'm in the mood for extraspicy, excitement and roudyness, that TigerLily is my favorite child. I know it sounds wrong coming from a mother of three, but lets face it we all Love our children with a fury unlike any other. But really on a day to day basis, if we are going to be honest, I don't think we like them all the same.

I mean seriously there are days when TigerLily makes me want to sit in a corner and scream "uncle". Those are the days when my sweet gentle Jess comes to my rescue by picking up all her toys and Lily's to boot and to top it all off she makes me a card. I tell ya the girl knows the way to melt her mommas heart. 3 years ago during the whole crazy hurricane Wilma evacuation disaster, we were stuck in traffic for 15 hours or so just to get to San Antonio (usually only 3 hours away) and we had just stopped for ice because it was sooo hot! The convenience store where we stopped had put a limit of 2 large cups of ice per person because everyone was getting ice. Anyway as were driving away I give TigerLily a big chunk of ice wrapped in a napkin and I hand Jess a lid-less sippy cup full of ice. Let me stop here to mention that it was like 95 degrees outside and that we weren't using the AC because we didn't want to waste the gas. So Jess and Lily have their ice, Lily being only about 18 months old dropped her ice and began wailing at the top of her lungs it was at this moment, that my sweet generous 3 year old Jess handed over her entire cup of precious ice to her sister. Yall, let me tell you it made me get all teary eyed right then and there. I mean it would have been pretty cute for her to hand her a piece of ice, but no my sweet baby very willingly handed her little sister her entire cup, what 3 year old is that generous I ask yall. I'll tell what TigerLily sure aint that generous! On that entire trip, Jess was my favorite baby.

I know your askin' yourselves "don't she have a brood o' three runnin' around?" And the answer is yes, but Scratchy hasn't been my favorite child since she started teething. You see I don't take kindly to being chewed on, yelled at and being deprived of sleep. Nope, no siree I haven't liked her too much for a while now. Espechully when she does this:

Nope, I don't like her much at all these days.

More crafting, less whining!

I'm so over my last post, it's ridiculous. Don't get me wrong I needed to whine about it, but I'm done with that now. The situation around here hasn't really changed but I have found a more creative outlet for the stress than to scare y'all away with my awesome talent for throwing pity
parties. Want proof? Here goes:

Yep, now I sew too. And man is it dangerous. I mean I can work the sewing machine and I haven't sewed my finger together(again), but it has a high risk for addiction. Why cause it's wicked fast. I made all those bags last night, I'm no sewer and it took me like 3 hours, seriously. I bet my mom could make all of these in like 1. While I was on the hunt for fabric I realized that I must start a fabric stash. Then I slapped myself back into reality, my house has no room for another stash, none. Then I went on a yarn stash enhancing trip.

Where? At Hobby Lobby, turns out they are bringing in more sock yarn, I'd already purchased the Red Heart before, but now they had more of it. Enough to make a pair of grown up socks. Every time they bring in a "new" sock yarn they only order a single ball of every color, sort of like a sampler. Maybe they are testing to see how well they'd sell down here in the sauna that is H-Town. So I bought the one of the Patons Kroy and the Patons Stretch that I that I liked the best. I'm trying to make a statement with my purchase. I also let the "yarn lady" know that I was very interested in the sock yarn, hey it worked before.

I leave you with pixies of the disaster that was my sewing night. In reality they are various shots of me assing up simple sewing, the pink Kitti bag was for practice. The gingham was the real deal. Please don't stop laughing on my account, but I beg you to refrain from pointing, thanks.

Oh and someone please remind me that I'm running low on coffee, you don't want me on the news do you?

Mellodrama

Allow me to vent please. I'm kinda in the mood for it, I didn't choose to be, it just happened.

Today my frustration with everything came to a head. It's been one of those days when everything becomes uber-annoying. But it's no ones fault in particular, I think it's all part of the discontent I'm feeling lately. Again, it's no ones fault. I have the high suspicion that the only person to blame is moi. My lack of organization, direction, and general laziness has finally caught up with me.

I found this out yesterday when, after scrubbing two toilets and giving the kitchen floor a good hand scrubbing I came to the completely unexpected realization that I felt slightly better. Seriously, cleaning made me feel somehow lighter, and not just any kind of cleaning, but good ol' fashioned elbow grease powered cleaning. Who would have thought it, not me for sure. I'm the last person you could ever convince on that. See, when I clean I do it in spurts and really fast. I clean all day everyday, whenever my 3 masters allow it. But it never really feels "clean". But yesterday those 2(supah clean) toilets and the(supah clean) kitchen floor, made me feel like a real Stay at Home mom, you know like the ones in the commercials(gag). Anyway, that's my rant on the rewards of doing some deep cleaning.

The other area of my life that is not right is my Knitting life. I knit everyday, ever since I started last year I haven't been able to stop completely. The longest I've gone not knitting was that crazy first month after my Scratchy was born, (but that's because I could barely string words together, let alone knit) ever since then I've knit everyday, I have issues when I don't(more so than usual). But lately it hasn't been speaking to me. I mean I do it but I no longer love it like I did, it's become boring. I keep wondering when I will be done, because I cannot just stop, that's just crazy. Tonight however, I figured out why. It's because, well I'm chikin'. Yup, the reason I'm not happy is because I've been stuck on stockinette for the past 4 months. Specifically stockinette socks, I've loved them all but I think I'm done with them. It's time to move on to something saucier, something tasty. Tonight I got lotsa inspiration, I think I'm going to make a stole or a shawl or some lacy socks, but I'm definitely moving on.

All that's left with discontent is my lack of sleep. With Scratchy on the mend I've been left with a completely messed up sleep schedule. So today, I'm not sleeping during the girlies nap time. It will mean I will be veeery cranky but at least all will be back to normal. Or as close to normal as it could ever be around here. I leave you with pictures of random stuff I love.
You see that man, that's my Superman, you see those cute girlies, I planned for them to be that cute, you see that coffeemaker, it don't live here no more.

Caught!

So it's been 6 days since my last post. I know, I promised to try and post daily, but alas....I didn't feel like it.
I don't know what up lately, but I just don't feel any joy, in too many things. I think the fact that Scratchy has been ill and refusing to sleep hasn't really helped. I think she's teething but I have no way of confirming that, given the fact that I see anything happening in her gums.

To be quite honest I'm just supah tired, I don't believe I thought this whole being a mom thing through. I kinda just jumped in I guess. Don't get me wrong I don't regret it, well except on Tuesday at 4am when Scratchy refused to let go of me, but that was a one time thing, I hope.

So that is my mood right now. Super Extra Exhausted. But at least today Scratchy is better.

On Monday night I caught her in the stash!! And I have proof too.
But I gotta say at least the babe know her needle sizes. Both of those are the same size.
This is just a gratuitous shot of cute chunky baby legs, aren't they the cutest!
Oh and for those of you here for the knitting, here goes.
This is destined to become a pair of sleeping socks for my niece Destiny. When she saw her cousins hand knit socks she asked if she could have some, so I had her pick out some yarn and here are the results. Sadly they will have to be taken out for a late night ride to the frog pond tonight. For some reason, they have no clue about the gauge they are supposed to be. Which isn't really so bad except that well.....apparently I have no clue either. Apparently this yarn does not like to be knit on 2.75 mm needles. If you have any advise or are curious as to what yarn it is, its Four Seasons Hot Socks 100 in the color 283. I got it from my buddy Carroll during a destashing party, and I love it. I was kinda hoping my niece wouldn't pick it, because I really wanted it for moi, but she's 9 so she won. That doesn't mean I'm happy about it though. In fact I refuse to be.
So that's it people thats what I've been up to. Maybe a few comments would make me feel better. So how about it?

Sweet Brown Elixir of Life

I am exhausted. There is nothing for it. I'm spent. Running away has been on my mind alot lately.

I go through about 2 pots of coffee a day, but it aint enough. I'm not sleepy, I'm just exhausted.

Usually by 8am I've had 2 cups, then by noon I have another two, at about 5pm I have another two. Usually by 8pm I'm craving coffee again.

I know your all thinking 2 cups? You're okay it's not that bad. Well here, I give you evidence of the contrary:

The mug on the left is the mug that has kept me alive for the past 3 days. The one with the grapes is my usual. The white little cup is just there for scale it holds only 8oz of...well I don't know what people drink from that. It's really hardly more than a mouthful.

Anyway, the first mug holds 16oz of the sweet brown elixir of life. I think I will henceforth call it the mug of life. I have been drinking 2 of these each morning, noon and evening for the past 3 days. Even I think that's a little excessive. I want to stop but in order for that to happen I must get at least 2 consecutive nights of at least 6 hours of sleep, each. 6 hours does not sound like much to some people(I have the high suspicion that these are the people who don't have 3 kids under the age of 7) but to me it sounds like heaven, I haven't slept 2 consecutive nights of more than 5 hours of sleep since I was 7 months pregnant with Scratchy (for you math obsessed freaks here goes, Scratchy is 10 months old, now go forth and calculate)

The most sleep I've had since she was born was 12 hours in the hospital after she was surgically removed from my body, but that was due to the anesthesia. But that's another story for another day.

Anyway I'm thankful tonight is knit night, I didn't get to go last week, and it has just about killed me.

In other news, remember how Superman's vacation starts next week and not this week. Well it's changed again. He went to work Tuesday, when he came back that evening he said he was on vacation again. There was something important that was happening, and they needed him, otherwise they would have let him take his vacation this week. Since he went in Tuesday and took care of whatever was important (he mentioned what it was but I forgot) they told him to go ahead and take his vacation, so he will be home until next Tuesday.

In yarny news (cause I know that what you are here for), Tuesday during nap time (theirs not mine) instead of catching up on laundry and dishes I did this
I wound sock yarn. Just to get back into my zen thoughts. Take the edge off, what ever.
The first one is LionBrand Sockease in the Toffee color the second one is the same brand but in the Rock Candy color. They both look accurate, colorwise, on my monitir. My favorite is the Rock Candy color, it speaks to me the green, the stoney grey, lovely.
I'm gonna go knit now. Would you like to see pictures of my knit night?

Binge!

Yesterday started out being pretty cool. Then it turned completely hilarious due to Superman's awesome skills in forgetfulness.
I woke up to the sound of birds and just the slightest hint of morning light.
That's such a load, I woke up because Scratchy was calling for her breakfast in bed. It was 6:45am, I couldn't help but think that my now 10 month old baby was put on this earth to make sure I am awake at 6:45 am every day.
I know you are thinking "6:45 bleh, I already have the cows milked, the eggs collected and lunch cooked by 6:45, I wish I could sleep that late"
All I have to say to that is I'm sorry for your early morning plight and if you like, I'll FedEx Scratchy over to you and she can come milk you at 6:45am.

At 7am I woke up Superman otherwise he would be late for work. I said: sweetie, its 7. He says "hmmhm, okay", then he rolls over and goes right back to sleep. I think to myself that it's going to be one of those mornings.
7:10 I go to him again. Same results. Okay I think, he must have gotten to bed really late, 10 more minutes and I'll be back.

So its 10 minutes later Scratchy is sleeping again, I have coffee so I'm good. I go wake up Superman again. I say "hey lazy butt, git up, time for ya to go to work, how am I going to buy more yarn if you don't go make the $$, hurry up, and since your up git me more coffee!
I'm kidding, I didn't say that. But I have thought it before. No, I say,"babe, you are going to be late, it's time to get up". I guess by this time he was tired of his wife waking him up every 10 minutes, so he says "I'm not going", I think, what? This is a man that wont even miss work when he is sick. So I ask him what's up. He says he is on vacation and that I'm the most unthoughtful wife for forgetting that he told me that last month.
Lets take a moment to mention that he told me in the beginning of June, that he would be taking a weeks vacation sometime in July. That is all the Supersexyman ever told me, but I digress.
Well, when he told me that, I went insane. I was supah supah happy. I thought " Oh gosh what am I going to do during his vacation"
You see with gas prices the way they are we aren't going no where far this summer. So it's all about staying in Houston, but there is plenty to do here, so we will be okay.
Anyway, I let him sleep and I got dressed, my other daughters were still sleeping also, so I left. Yep you heard correctly, I Left By Myself. Needles to say I went on a binge, a book binge!
I went to 3 different places and got:

This book is full of historical things about sock knitting and I love it. I also lost it in a parking lot yesterday, and I had tears ready to go, when Superman spotted it and brought it back to me. I knew there was a reason I keep nursing and feeding his children.

I saw this and I thought "I'm real people" This book has lot of good information too.

I bought this because, my knitting finishing techniques leave alot to be desired. I must say that the book is choc full of clear pictures of how to do stuff. I love it.

This one here just stole my heart. I really don't see the foxes or geeses in the designs, but shows you pretty clearly how to do colour work. I cant wait to try some of the patterns.

When I got back home at around noon Superman was still in his jammies and the girlies were all awake and still in the bottoms of their jammies, no tops ( I don't have boys, Superman makes due with what he made). He tells me he has good news and bad news. The good news is that he will be home all day. The bad news....he had his dates wrong and his vacation doesn't start until nextweek. I just about died laughing. I knew it was too good to be true. At least I have my books to keep me company. So this morning at 6:45am....see above, but instead of the whole vacation thing, picture Superman begrudgingly getting up looking all sexy!

Later 'gaters, I got reading to do!

No Match

I know I said I'd write about where I went On July 2nd. I'm not ready. My world, my rules and um.. no I'm not sorry. Actually today I'm here to talk about the things I like together, but that don't really go together and Meli is going to make that face she makes when her sister is being weird. (y'all haven't met Meli yet, you will as soon as she says it okay to) Anyway here is the list.
  1. I like spaghetti with a little bit of ranch dressing mixed in it. Preferably with no meat.
  2. My favorite combination in a Pizza is (deep breath) black olives, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes(sans Sam and Ella), green olives and bacon. If I cant have that then I want only the olives, spinach and tomato. This all sounds very good to me, but I bet Meli is making the face.
  3. The best music for getting me into my knitting zone is something dancy. Right now it's reggaeton. Espechully something by Wisin y Yandel (Yandel is hot). My fave song right now is SexyMovimiento. I hate the beginning of the Video but the rest is okay. The song really gets me in to my knitting zone. See reggaeton + knitting = weird.
  4. To the above please add that I like to read while doing that. I listen to the music above, knit and read my favorite blogs. I wont say which ones but lets just say that many of them are about knitting.

I think that all I have for now. Meli, please undo your face, we have already established that you think I'm weird. I'm just sharing it with the rest of the world via the interwebs. By the way as I'm writing this I'm listening to that song.

I'd like to share that the 4th of July was great. Scratchy missed her first fire works. It's okay don't feel too bad for her, she was busy with my exposed decolletage. I have pixies of the celebrations but again I must ask you to wait until I can have a serious talk with my 'puter over its failure to recognize the existence of mah camera. Por favor believe it. I also have pix of my knitting (duh) just gimme a minute.

Happy Monday!

Anoying Thursday

Today the Moody me is annoyed!

Why you ask? when it's such a beautiful day out. The sun is shining, the tank is clean!

(bonus points if you can guess where I got that from)

The reason for my annoyance is that I do not, I repeat do Not get to go to knit night. My awesum Superman of a husband has to work. Since the 4th of July he wont be working. You see at his job if there is a holiday coming they don't get their normal day off. They get holiday pay and overtime but not their regular day off. So tonight I can either show up at knit night with my brood, to annoy the other mothers who actually got away from their kids, or I stay home. I'm staying home out of respect. But that does not mean I get to be happy about it.

Meanwhile I must explain my absence yesterday, I had to go here,
I will tell you about that tomorrow, it will be even more significant tomorrow. Trust me.
On the knitting front, this is what I have to show. A toe up, rat bastard of a sock and I dishcloth. Let me explain about the sock. I have frogged this sock 3 times, why because the clever bastard keeps distracting me and apparently I cant count. I began the dishcloth to de-stress because I wanted to kill the sock. Do not mock the fact that I am using my daughters needles. I asked and she doesn't mind, she did say her feet were cold so maybe I should motor on the socks.
I'd like to leave you today with a breakfast picture.
Ignore the date, this is from this morning. I have to have a serious talk with the camera about changing the date on my pictures. These are my two of my 3 sweet babies having breakfast together. Aren't they just beautimus. My oldest was still sleeping, she can be lazy like me sometimes, but these two like to be up at the a$$crack of dawn to eat. And don't let the tiny one fool you, Scratchy has already nursed in this picture, she's kind of a glutton, that way. Come to think it TigerLily(that would be the other piece of cute in the picture) had by this time had eggs, grapes and milk. These kids love fruit man, they're like bats. Only you know, cuter and less hairy.
See ya tomorrow!

The winner is....

First of all for those of you who are NOT here for the knitting ( that would be my muggle family) let me explain. On Ravelry ther is a group called Swap On A Budget, yours truly is a co-moderator there and as such I began a contest. Now, most people will tell you that even though I can be as shy as all get out, I'm aslo as nosey as they come. I began this little contest because I wanted to see what real live knitters knitting bags/ stashes look like.
The winner get some of this :
It is some beuuutimous Nature's Palette, 100% of the snuggliest Merino evah, in the "chocolate" colourway. Now that I have explained the madness let the contest resume.

The winner is:
Arlene!!!
Congratulations Arlene, PM me your addy and these 3 hanks will be at your door post haste!
(I wonder what that means)

To prove to yall that there was a method to my madness, here's proof.

I know the pixies are dark, but it's waaaay past my lovely asistant's bedtime, and she was already mad that I woke her up to begin with, there is no sayin' what she would have done if there had been bright lights involved.

Peace out.
Your local friendly Knituitist.
