Thanks to my buddy Rachel (who is my new favorite person) I now have the coveted PDF.
Scratchy's Hat
Materials
Yarn: Any worsted weight should work
Needles: US 5 (3.75mm) circular needles and US7 (4.5mm)circular needles & DPNs
Gauge: ha ha hah heee hoooo ooohhh. No, really I don't know.
Sizes: Baby, Child, Adult, Big headed Adult.
I made the smallest size, I have yet to make the others. I would have them test knit but given the fact that I announced that I would post the pattern today; I can't. I have a tendency to be a "tight knitter". Some people have said that I knit "Kevlar" like fabric. So I figure that if you are loose knitter you should cast on a smaller size. This hat is pretty stretchy. So here goes.
With smaller needles
CO 72 (or 84, 96, 108 or 120 stitches). Join being careful not to twist.
(At this point in my knitting I usually knit 1 stitch and place a marker or if I can't find one I use the tail end yarn as my marker, but that's just my thing. You do as you please, I won't call the knitting police. They won't answer my calls anymore anyway)
Knit 5 rounds of K2 P2 ribbing
Switch to larger needles. The stitch pattern begins here. PAY ATTENCHUN!!!
Round 1, 2 & 4: *P1, K5*
Round 3: *P1, K2tog, YO, k1tbl, YO, ssk (K2togtbl)*
Here's a "chart".
Now, for Scratchy's hat I did 10 pattern repeats. If you make a larger hat, you may want to do more. Otherwise, it may not be a hat.
Top Shaping:
Round 1 and 2 : *P1, K5*. rep from*
Round 3: *P1, K2 tog, K1tbl, ssk*.
Switch to DPN's
Round 4: * P1, K3 *
Round 5: *P1, K3tog*
Round 6 & 7: *K1, P1*
Round 8: K2 tog until 6 stitches remain.
Close the top.
That's it yo. Hope this works. This pattern has only been knit by me. There have been no testers. But I will be updating this as I knit another hat for Lily using my own instructions.
Here we have Scratchy modeling the hat. I think she loves it.
